BRINAR® Wear-Resistant Steel Plates

Wear-resistant steel is a high-strength steel whose martensitic microstructure gives it hardness far above conventional structural steel. While a standard S355 structural steel has hardness of approximately 160 HB, BRINAR® plates reach between 370 and 540 HB, translating to up to 5 times longer service life in abrasive applications.

This property is critical in sectors such as mining, cement, steel and construction, where abrasive wear is the main cause of equipment deterioration. Replacing structural plates with BRINAR® wear-resistant steel reduces maintenance frequency and total operating cost.

BRINAR® is produced by Ilsenburger Grobblech, a Salzgitter Group company based in Ilsenburg, Germany. The controlled rolling and direct quenching process guarantees homogeneous mechanical properties throughout the cross-section and uniform hardness from surface to core.
